How we handle what you trust us with.
What we collect
To introduce you well, we hold the profile you build — your values, your view of partnership, the everyday details you choose to share — along with any photos you upload, the messages you exchange inside an introduction, and a contact address so we can reach you. You decide what goes in, and you can change or remove most of it at any time.
Why we hold it
We use your information for exactly two things: making thoughtful, mutual introductions, and keeping members safe. That is the whole purpose. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not run engagement machinery designed to keep you scrolling.
What we never do
We never sell or rent your data. We never make you publicly searchable, and we never let search engines index members. And we never condition what you can see of another person on payment — you will never pay to unlock a photo, a name, or a contact.
Verification
Every member is verified before they can be introduced, because trust is the floor we stand on. Where identity documents are used in that check, they confirm you are who you say you are and are not stored afterwards. Verification is part of membership, never a paid upgrade.
Your messages and photos
The messages you write inside an introduction are yours. They are never read to target advertising and are not mined for marketing. Our care team can access member content only when it is necessary to keep people safe — never out of curiosity.
If you choose to confirm a safety report about a conversation, we keep only that shared conversation, the other member's profile as it was visible to you, and your shared relationship history in a separate, access-audited safety record. Only authorized safety staff may review it. We keep it until the report is resolved and then for two years, unless the law requires longer. We normally tell the other member about a report, except where doing so could put you at risk.
Your requests
You can ask us what we hold about you or correct it. You can delete your account yourself from inside the app (see “Deleting your account” below). Write to hello@heylayla.app for any privacy request, or security@heylayla.app to report a safety concern, and a person will respond.
Deleting your account
You can permanently delete your account yourself, at any time, from inside the app: Menu → Delete my account. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. Your profile, photos, answers, preferences, and login identity are permanently removed. Where a shared record must remain for another member — a conversation you both took part in — your name and profile are removed from it, and you appear only as “Former member”.
A small set of records can outlive deletion where member safety, security, or the law requires it — for example a confirmed safety report and its evidence (kept until resolved and then for two years, unless the law requires longer), a record that an account was blocked, and our internal operational logs, which never contain your name, email, photos, or messages. Anything we keep is the minimum the purpose requires and is stripped of information that identifies you wherever possible.
